i love lists. lists of things i need to do, things i should do, things i want to do.

i write lists of things i need to order. grocery lists. menus. books i want to look up; the next ones to read. patterns i want to try, fibers i want to use.

i list my goals, my accomplishments, my blessings.

i even write lists of lists!

one of the nicest things on a mac is the stickies app. i have stickies all over the 6th space on my iMac. every one of them is a different list. there’s a list of podcasts, a list of software. there’s a list of dates that my family might be getting together. i have a list of phone numbers, and email addies i haven’t yet added to the address book, and another list of websites to check.

every so often i check the lists – delete items, add others. i love the stickies…

massive push

to get this office organized! i’m not the world’s worst packratter – but i’m pretty sure i’m close. there’s no such thing as a clear horizontal space in my office. the stacks have spawned new stacks; and the spawn are promising to be more statuesque than the parents.

2. it’s very hard to find things when i need them
3. i have to move stacks to get at
a. other stacks
b. the printer
c. the cintiq
d. my desk
4. getting at the back of the PC is currently impossible

i have a deadline to do this. next tuesday, i’m switching to FIOS. the installation takes “hours” according to the service center. easy access to the backs of the TVs and computers is mandatory. i’m afraid the installer will take one look and run away screaming.

so i’m throwing stuff out. lots of stuff. if i’m not using it – it goes. if i’m using it, but it can’t be put away properly – it goes. it’s time to be ruthless. and really PUSH on the “destroy” button, if necessary. or i’m going to rent a backhoe…
